Reiterating stance

I have followed Sen. Hatch since he defeated Frank Moss 35 years ago. I have supported and voted for him, but as the years passed, he has moved left from the Reagan brand of conservatism. The last straw was when he voted for confirmation of three of Obama’s far left radical nominees, tax cheat Timothy [Geithner] for treasury secretary, Eric Holder for attorney general and Cass Sunstein, an environmental extremist for regulatory czar. All three rubber stamp the Obama regime’s policies that are destroying our freedoms. 
Two of the most flagrant miscarriages of justice that have occurred under Holder’s watch are —
• His refusal to indict two Black Panthers who made their appearance with billy clubs to intimidate citizens coming to vote.
• Failure for the past year to provide documents needed to bring to a close the gun running [Operation] Fast and Furious issue that resulted in the death of a law enforcement officer on the Mexican border.
The House will likely vote soon to hold him in contempt if he continues stonewalling. When I asked Sen. Hatch why he voted to confirm such disreputable men, he gave the lame excuse that, “I continue to believe it is inappropriate for the Senate to impose a political standard with regards to presidential appointments.”
This is absurd and was more than I could swallow. We expect our congressmen to choose men of honesty and integrity, not far left kooks.
The above are just two examples of how detrimental and far-reaching the poor judgment of a congressman can be to our country. I have asked the senator two or three times if he supported conservative radio talk show hosts. He refused to give me an answer.
He also distanced himself from the tea party movement until, not long ago on KSL, I learned he had become a born-again tea partier, when he said — I’ll stand with the tea party every time — but it was not until he realized the power they had with the electorate.
A Deseret News article in 2009 listed three Republicans that Democrat senators find easiest to work with — the two RINOS, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe — and Orrin Hatch. I would say Hatch shouldn’t consider that a badge of honor, but rather a ball and chain around his neck as far as impressing his conservative constituents.
