Thank you for visiting. My thoughts & Feelings are my Own.

Here I will share my feelings about America and her Future.

Let it be known to all the World, I love all Humankind, however the poor actions of the few that take away the Freedom's of the many wear on my soul. I don't hate them I feel sad for their foolishness before God and humankind.

Those leaders who seek to 'Keep their Oaths of office' and those who seek only self glory, power, tyranny and the destruction of America as it was founded, hoping to turn it into a Dictatorship, Marxist or other state of Tyranny.

For a long while I was unsure of putting a blog together with my thoughts on this, however Truth must be shared, if not to Awake American's to their dangerous situation then to record the folly of the ways of the wicked who do exist in the leadership of our Nation, States, Counties, Towns. Sad that I must add this page.

Cold fusion reactor verified by third-party researchers, seems to have 1 million times the energy density of gasoline

Cold fusion reactor verified by third-party researchers, seems to have 1 million times the energy density of gasoline

E-cat cold fusion/LENR device

Andrea Rossi’s E-Cat — the device that purports to use cold fusion to generate massive amounts of cheap, green energy – has been verified by third-party researchers, according to a new 54-page report. The researchers observed a small E-Cat over 32 days, where it produced net energy of 1.5 megawatt-hours, or “far more than can be obtained from any known chemical sources in the small reactor volume.” The researchers were also allowed to analyze the fuel before and after the 32-day run, noting that the isotopes in the spent fuel could only have been obtained by “nuclear reactions” — a conclusion that boggles the researchers: “… It is of course very hard to comprehend how these fusion processes can take place in the fuel compound at low energies.”
This new report [PDF] on the E-Cat was carried out by six (reputable) researchers from Italy and Sweden. While the new E-Cat looks very different from previous iterations, the researchers say that it uses the same “hydrogen-loaded nickel” and additives (most notably lithium) as a fuel. The device’s inventor, Andrea Rossi, claims that the E-Cat uses cold fusion — low-energy nuclear reactions, LENR — to fuse nickel and hydrogen atoms into copper, releasing oodles of energy. The researchers, analyzing the fuel before and after the 32-day burn, note that there is an isotope shift from a “natural” mix of Nickel-58/Nickel-60 to almost entirely Nickel-62 — a reaction that, the researchers say, cannot occur without nuclear reactions (i.e. fusion). The researchers say there is just 1 gram of fuel inside the E-Cat. For more info about the science/chemistry behind LENR, read our previous story about Rossi’s E-Cat.

The E-Cat test setup
The researchers are very careful about not actually saying that cold fusion/LENR is the source of the E-Cat’s energy, instead merely saying that an “unknown reaction” is at work. In serious scientific circles, LENR is still a bit of a joke/taboo topic. The paper is actually somewhat comical in this regard: The researchers really try to work out how the E-Cat produces so much darn energy — and they conclude that fusion is the only answer — but then they reel it all back in by adding: “The reaction speculation above should only be considered as an example of reasoning and not a serious conjecture.”
Anyway, now that we’ve got the necessary cynicism/scrutiny out of the way, let’s get down to what everyone’s really interested in: The utterly insane amounts of energy produced by the E-Cat. In the table below you can see some figures from the 32-day test. The most important figures are on the right hand side: a COP (coefficient of performance) of up to 3.74, and net power production of 2,373 watts. Remember that this is a small device that produced these kinds of figures for 32 days straight. Total energy obtained over 32 days was 1.5 MWh.
E-Cat power input vs. output
To put this into perspective, the E-Cat tested by the researchers has an energy density of 1.6×109 Wh/kg and power density of 2.1×106 W/kg. This is orders (plural) of magnitude higher than anything else ever tested — somewhere in the region of 100 times more power than the best supercapacitors, and maybe a million times more energy than gasoline. In the words of the researchers, “These values place the E-Cat beyond any other known conventional source of energy.”

E-Cat Home Unit cold fusion
This is what a commercialized E-Cat will apparently look like, when Rossi finally gets around to changing the world.
Obviously, if these third-party findings are to be believed — if the E-Cat really is performing cold fusion — then this is rather exciting. We are talking about an extremely cheap, green, and dense power source that could quite literally change the world.
Before the world can be changed, however, there will now be a very extensive period of scrutiny from the scientific community at large. The previous third-party analysis of the E-Cat device, published in March 2013, was attacked and debunked very rapidly. It seems this new report has been intentionally designed so that there are fewer plot holes and logical leaps. The research paper has reportedly been submitted to the Arxiv pre-print server, with the hope of eventually being published in the Journal of Nuclear Physics.
The next few weeks could be very interesting indeed. According to one report at Sifferkoll, a big bank downloaded the new E-Cat report just minutes after it was made available online — and “oil futures have stayed volatile since.” And of course this morning Glasgow University announced that it would be selling its fossil fuel investments. Hmm…

Lockheed says it’ll make a truck-sized fusion reactor within 10 years

Lockheed says it’ll make a truck-sized fusion reactor within 10 years

The magnetic coils inside the compact fusion (CF) experiment are critical to plasma containment, as pictured in this undated handout photo

Lockheed Martin, the US government’s largest contractor, says it has made a technological breakthrough in nuclear fusion power. The breakthrough will apparently allow Lockheed to build a 100-megawatt “compact fusion reactor” (CFR) that can fit on the back of a truck within 10 years. The reduced size — just 10 feet by 7 feet — will allow Lockheed to “design, build, and test the CFR in less than a year.” Clean, limitless power – from a compact generator, no less! – could give us airplanes that can stay in the air forever, reliable power for developing nations, fresh water through cheap desalination, and much, much more. If Lockheed really has cracked fusion power generation, then almost every aspect of modern life could be in for a revolution.
As for what Lockheed’s breakthrough actually is, the defense contractor is (unsurprisingly) coy. The official statement simply says that, “Our compact fusion concept combines several alternative magnetic confinement approaches, taking the best parts of each, and offers a 90 percent size reduction over previous concepts.” The rather flashy website and video that Lockheed created for Compact Fusion offers a few more hints, but it’s hard to separate fact from we-hope-it-will-soon-be-fact. I think it’s fairly clear that Lockheed doesn’t yet have a working fusion reactor, but rather it has stumbled across a technique that it hopes will allow for compact fusion generator.

The compact fusion tech was developed by Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works, the company’s secretive R&D division that previously worked on the SR-71 Blackbird, F-22 Raptor, and most recently the F-35 Lightning II and SR-72 scramjet spy plane. The group has “several patents pending” that cover the new approach to fusion. Lockheed has previously talked about “high beta fusion reactors,” and the new device seen in the video appears to match Lockheed’s previous descriptions. Basically, this compact reactor is very similar to a standard magnetic confinement fusion reactor — but the chamber is cylindrical, rather than a toroid (doughnut) tokamak.
From the scant details that we have, it sounds like a cylinder — plus some very strong magnetic fields — is a better solution for keeping the plasma at a high pressure and temperature. So far, the main problem with fusion is that it takes a huge amount of energy to start the reaction, and then we can’t keep the reaction going due to leakage. Seemingly, Lockheed believes this new approach will allow for a self-sustaining fusion reaction — and thus clean, limitless electricity.
The target chamber at the National Igniftion Facility, where 192 lasers combine to create fusion
Conventional fusion chambers are generally very large. (This is the National Ignition Facility in California, where 192 lasers combine to create fusion.)
The NSTX fusion chamber at PPPL
Inside another conventional fusion chamber — this time, the spherical tokamak at NSTX at PPPL.
Historically, fusion reactors have been big, building-sized things — a lot like nuclear fission reactors, in fact. Lockheed says this new design can allow for designs that have a footprint as small as 10 feet by 7 feet (3m by 2m), and about 7 feet tall — or small enough to fit on the back of a truck. The small size means that prototypes can be built a lot faster, which is why Lockheed seems confident that it can test the CFR in “less than a year,” and then iterate rapidly towards a prototype within five years, and a commercialized fusion reactor within 10 years.
Due to the fantastic power density of nuclear fusion, these small reactors will apparently produce a constant 100 megawatts of power — or enough to power a large town. Lockheed is initially (within 10 years) targeting military applications, however, such as airplanes and large ships; an airplane with a CFR on board could stay in the air for years. Further down the line (20 years) Lockheed will look towards civilian uses of cheap, clean fusion power, such as providing reliable power to developing countries and desalination (which requires a lot of power). At some point, compact fusion power might also be considered for space travel. One of the biggest issues with space travel at the moment is that rocket engines require a lot of fuel, and it isn’t feasible to carry lots of fuel into space; the high energy density of a fusion power engine would make long-distance space travel — to Mars and beyond — much faster and more feasible.
I can’t help but wonder if Lockheed’s announcement was somehow timed to take some of the steam out of last week’s cold fusion breakthrough.

BLM Agent Daniel Love and Dan Barnes Will face wrongful death suit for Dr. Redd's 2009

Utah judge won’t toss wrongful death suit for artifacts suspect
Courts » But he drops four of five claims in the wrongful death suit filed by the Redd family.

A federal judge has refused to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the widow of a Blanding doctor who killed himself after he was arrested during a 2009 crackdown on illegal artifact trafficking.
But in his Wednesday decision, U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby dismissed four out of the five claims made by Jeanne Redd in the lawsuit, which was filed on behalf of James Redd’s estate in 2011.

Attorneys for two Bureau of Land Management Agents named as defendants had asked the judge to toss the entire case, arguing that the agents had "qualified immunity," meaning the agents are shielded from potential lawsuits unless the plaintiff can show their statutory or constitutional rights were violated.

The judge ruled that the plaintiffs showed "sufficient alleged facts" to support a claim that agents used excessive force when James Redd was arrested in June 2009 — which was a violation of his Fourth Amendment rights, attorneys argued.

However, Shelby ruled that Redd’s attorneys did not show that the man’s rights were violated in their claims that BLM Agent Daniel Love provided false information to get the warrant that led to Redd’s arrest and a search of his home, and that he was singled out because of his standing in the community. The complaint also alleged that Redd’s right to due process was violated, but Shelby ruled there was no particular evidence presented to prove this claim.

Jeanne and James Redd were among 24 people arrested in June 2009 after a two-year investigation into the theft and sale of American Indian artifacts in southeastern Utah, led by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and FBI agents working with a confidential informant. A federal indictment said the couple had taken a bird pendant worth $1,000 from tribal land; Jeanne Redd also was charged with theft and sale of other artifacts.

The Redds’ complaint alleges Love doubled the value of the pendant in the indictment so the charge would rise to a felony, and that James Redd was targeted to "retaliate" for dismissal of similar charges more than a decade earlier.

About 80 federal agents went to Blanding on June 10, 2009, to arrest the Redds and 14 other individuals. Agents wearing flak jackets and carrying assault rifles arrived at the Redd home about 6:55 a.m. and "manhandled and handcuffed" James Redd as he returned home from an early visit to his health clinic.

James Redd, 60, was taken to his garage and "interrogated" for four hours by BLM Agent Dan Barnes. During that time, the complaint alleges Barnes called James Redd a liar, told him he would lose his medical license and accused him of using garden tools to dig up bodies.

Love allegedly urged other agents to amass at the Redd home, and at one point told James Redd’s daughter that "140 agents had trampled through the Redd home at some point during the day."

James Redd was "shaken to the core" by the incident, the complaint says, and spoke to his family the next day about their decade-long fights with the state and BLM over artifacts. At some point that day, he recorded a statement for his wife and five children and then drove to a secluded spot on their property, hooked a hose to the exhaust pipe of his Jeep and asphyxiated himself.

Jeanne Redd later pleaded guilty to seven charges related to theft and sale of artifacts and was sentenced to three years of probation. A month later, Jeanne Redd filed the wrongful death lawsuit. It initially named 16 federal agents, but all but Love and Barnes have been dismissed as defendants.

Bundy Ranch - Neglect Charges filed by Beck who hit a Cow on I-15 April 13 2014,

(Just found this update and am passing along - Sad people want to sue the weak instead of those at fault = Feds / BLM / their hired guns.)

NEWS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bundy Family Statement on Neglect Charges against Cliven Bundy Last week, in the Clark County District Court, Danielle Beck filed a lawsuit against Cliven Bundy for “recklessly, carelessly and negligently allowing his cows to enter onto Interstate 15. Danielle reportedly ran into a distressed cow on I-15 the night of April 13th. As we learn more details of Danielle Beck and her accident we are grateful that she was not injured further. We are also thankful that she has returned to work and hope her life is back to normal. As for the charges against Cliven, they are ironic, humorous and come with questionable motives. On March 25th, The Bureau of Land Management along with at least 4 other federal agencies came onto the Bundy Range and set up a military like compound. On April 5th they locked down the range surrounded the ranch with sniper and heavily armed federally hired mercenaries. Placing armed militants and advanced surveillance equipment on ever entry point of the range. They verbally and physically threatened the community (especially the Bundy's) with their lives if they left the paved roads. The Bundy family and community members were gang beaten, captured and tortured, thrown to the pavement, tasered multiple times with dogs siced on them, all simply for expressing their first amendment rights in distaste for the excessive display of force by our federal government.
During this historical week we were unable to freely go on the range to check the cattle's whereabouts or their condition. The federal agencies were gathering the cattle by helicopter, shooting them by air, scattering them and separating the mother's from their calves (many calves and cattle were killed). The Bundy cattle that lived were put in extreme distress and disorientation. It was not until April 12 (Saturday) after over a thousand protesters went up to the compound and forced the flight of the federal agencies and returned the captured cattle, that we could freely get on the range to check the damages and the remaining herd. It was the very next night that Danielle Beck hit one of the distressed cattle. By this time the surviving cattle had been scattered by air into areas they normally may not have gone, shot at, sore footed, many captured and held inhumanly. They were looking for their calves and looking for water. So here is the irony, Cliven's life would have been taken by federal agents if he would have checked on the cattle, yet he is charged for neglect, carelessness and recklessness for not doing so. We do not have to point out who was reckless, careless and negligent? If Bob Apple, Danielle Beck's lawyer cared for his client more than just getting his name in the paper, he would go after the federal agencies who caused the cattle to be distressed enough to go through a State maintained fence and onto the freeway. Or, he would go after the State of Nevada who bears the responsibility in maintaining the freeway fences and gates. The humorous part is that both the State and the feds have more funds to pay out than some poor rancher driving a 13 year old beat up pick up, living in a 1200 square foot home (without air conditioning) a home that he has primarily lived in since he was 4 years old. But the lawyer knows Cliven cannot defend himself as well as the State and feds can, so who does he sue? We do not blame attorney Bob Apple for going after the easy prey, it is some lawyer's nature to do so. This whole incident is just another example of what happens when the federal government oversteps it's bounds and tries to meddle in matters that they do not have jurisdiction or authority over. Sincerely, The Bundy Family

Commissioner pleads not guilty to charges stemming from ATV protest ride

SALT LAKE CITY — A San Juan County commissioner who organized a ride to protest the federal government's closure of an ATV trail in southeastern Utah pleaded not guilty along with four others Friday to misdemeanor charges.
Federal prosecutors charged the five men, including Commissioner Phil Lyman, with one count of conspiracy to operate off-road vehicles on public lands closed to off-road vehicles and one count of operation of off-road vehicles on public lands closed to off-road vehicles.
"These are God-fearing Americans who want to enjoy the great outdoors, especially the great outdoors right outside their back door," said Nathan Crane, an attorney representing Monte Jerome Wells.
Also charged are Jay Demar Redd, Shane Morris Marian and Franklin Trent Holliday.
This spring, Lyman told reporters he organized the ride in San Juan County's Recapture Canyon to protest the decreasing access to ATV trails on public land.
The Bureau of Land Management declared the area off-limits to all-terrain vehicles because off-roading was causing damage to ancestral Puebloan ruins.
The county submitted a right-of-way application to the agency for construction of a new trail in the canyon, a decision that remains under review and is fueling frustration over a closed trail that Lyman says has been a thoroughfare for cattlemen and others since pioneer days.
The ride, which Lyman promoted through traditional and social media, brought rebuke from BLM Director Neil Kornze.
Lyman appeared in court without a lawyer, but U.S. District Magistrate Judge Evelyn J. Furse appointed him one for the hearing.
Lyman told the judge that the County Commission has an interest in the validity of the right-of-way and is willing to participate in his defense, which adds "complexities" to his hiring an attorney. He said he doesn't know if he qualifies for a public defender and is concerned about the "exorbitant" cost of legal fees.
After the hearing attended by several dozen family members and friends of the five men, Lyman told reporters he wanted to talk but his lawyer advised him against it.
Furse scheduled a two-day trial beginning Dec. 22. If convicted, the five men face up to one year in prison, a $100,000 fine and 12 months of probation. Prosecutors also said there is a possibility they would have to pay restitution.

I find the comments over at the deseret news so unintelligable, seems the hate towards these True Americans is very strong. The lies about the Redd's family are still strong which is sad since the truth has been known some years now. The blm /epa / feds are way out of line, above the Constitutional laws, and have used force of arms, threats, and violence upon Americans. Even lied and created false things about them to protect themselves.

The torture of Dr. Redd which led to his death by the hands of the Same BLM who threatened to sniper the Bundy family (armed or unarmed) is what has happened to the Federal Government.

They are selling off the lands water / minerals for profit, but 1st they must close them down to all access by American's at all costs, thousands of farmers and ranchers in the western lands have been forced out of business, stolen lands and minerals and water rights they had earned for 4 - 6 generations. Then the Feds Sell off the Water and make billions, the lands as well to business entities many outside America. (been happening for over 30 yrs now)

You see, people who prefer to listen to the normal media, bought and spoon fed by the DC Government, your being lied to, and propagandized an your just turning into sheep.

I bet if Obama and his allies took a Nuclear weapon then used it upon an American City or State, then blame say the ranchers, farmers, tea party, constitutional party, etc. you know Oathkeeping American's.
That the main street media worshipers would Buy hook line and sinker the lie / story Obama would sell to them.
That is the state of America.

Past time to awake!

State Secession? Hold On For Dear Life!

Jon McNaughton Uncategorized 11 Comments
As written today in Reuters: Angry with Washington, 1 in 4 Americans open to secession.
Is it any surprise that at least 25% of Americans feel disenfranchised from the country in light of how Washington is mishandling one issue after another?
Despite objection from the majority of Americans, Obamacare was forced upon the people. Despite overwhelming objection, amnesty for illegal immigrants is about to receive executive order under President Obama as soon as the November elections are over. We’ve all watched our military demoralized under this current administration in the wake of the VA scandal. Obama now wants to send three thousand US troops into Liberia to help with Ebola. The list goes on as American’s have lost our trust in Washington, the IRS, the NSA, the EPA, etc., etc . . .
We are sick of it! That 25% statistic shows just how much we’ve had it. I’ve often asked myself, “If the federal government bails out California, New York, or some other state because of liberal leftist’s mismanagement leading to their own bankruptcy, would that be the straw that would finally cause multiple states to declare secession?
Many Americans feel that they are being pulled in a multiple of directions. I do not want to see our country head down that direction, but how do you stop a moving bus about to go over a cliff?
I believe that more than 25% would like to pull away from the out of control Washington that’s destroying us, but fear the obvious outcome of such a decision and will hold on for dear life. I for one, am holding on for dear life.

GRAZING RIGHTS: Ranchers lope for land issues with grass march

The term “march” seems greatly underpowered. Horse’s hooves are pounding, fast and hard across miles – nearly 3,000 of them according to the route map – from the west side of the country to the east, where, historically, important decisions are made.
The “express” part of the Grass March Cowboy Express is certainly the picture that comes to mind considering the group plans to complete their trek – from California to Washington DC, in just 20 days, riding every inch of it horseback.
The ranchers and others loping good horses five miles at a time coast-to-coast liken their efforts to Ghandi’s “salt march” in the 1930s when the British government maintained control of the salt in the waters surrounding India.
“The British Government had a total monopoly on all salt,” one of the “Grass March” organizers, county commissioner Grant Gerber from Elko County, Nevada, said. “A citizen of India was even prevented from distilling a little salt from ocean water for his family. All salt had to be bought from the British Government. In Nevada the federal government has a monopoly on Nevada land and the grass. The government owns 87 percent of the land, but also exercises total control over much of the private land as well. The effective control of the government exceeds 92 percent of the grass in Nevada.”
Gerber explained that six ranching families were told in March of this year that they could not turn a single critter out on their Bureau of Land Management grazing allotments because of drought conditions.
While much of Nevada and the southwest has suffered extreme drought, their corner of the world – in the extreme northeast corner of the state has received rain, Gerber said.
“Everybody out here snickers when they hear that we’ve been in a drought. It was a good wet spring and we’ve been getting rain all summer,” he said.
“The grass was 18 inches to two feet high,” said Gerber who helped organize a public viewing of the grass in May to gain public support for his clients who were appealing the BLM’s 100 percent cut - preventing cattlemen from turning their cattle on summer range. Rain has arrived at the right time to grow adequate forage on the Argenta Allotment in the Fort Lewis area in northeast Nevada, and yet the BLM determined that grazing would not be allowed in 2014, he said.
The six families that graze the region were in a tough spot. They own 56 percent of the land and all of the water in the 332,000 acre area but were unable to use even their private rangeland because of the checkerboard nature of the allotment. They sold cattle and grazed winter range in an effort to maintain base cow herds.
Gerber, an attorney for one of the families, said he told them they had three options. “I said you can accept it, you can sue but with the way BLM regulations are you’ll probably lose, or you can go after them with the First Amendment and maybe, just maybe we’ll have a chance.”
After their first 70-mile “grass march” in May to garner public attention for the situation, the BLM allowed ranchers to turn cattle into pastures more than two months later than their agreements call for. But then mid-summer, drought-induced “triggers” were met, according to the BLM, and cattle were required to be removed from the rangeland at least two months early.
An official statement from the state office said, “BLM Nevada attempted to work with the individuals who graze their cows on an area of public lands known as the Argenta Allotment to develop a plan for reduced use that would correspond to the current drought conditions. These cooperative efforts were rejected which forced the Bureau of Land Management to temporarily prohibit grazing on the parts of the Argenta Allotment that had already surpassed recommended use levels.”
Deputy chief of communications for the Nevada BLM Rudy Evanson said “most ranchers” in the state have been agreeable to grazing plan adjustments due to dry conditions. “This is our third year of severe drought in Nevada. So in order for ranchers to continue ranching in the future we need to make the changes we are making today,” he said.
Discrepancies exist between the BLM’s grass monitoring findings and those of the the permittees’ private range consultant, Evanston said, but “obviously we believe that our measurements are correct and we’ve taken actions based on the observations and monitoring done by BLM field staff.” Those actions have directed permittees to remove cattle from nine of 20 use areas, which all six permittes have complied with, he said.
In a news story earlier this year, Pete Tomera, the largest permittee on the allotment, said the triggers BLM set in its agreement with ranchers – which were based on the height of vegetation – and included a minimum four inch grass height in riparian areas, were “unrealistic,” adding that the private range consultant he hired found that there was “an abundance of feed.”
Gerber and his clients believe BLM employee Doug Furtado who stopped 2014 grazing, is “ruling with an iron fist.” The group of ranchers plans to deliver petitions to their state representatives and senators when they arrive in Washington, DC, calling for Furtado’s ousting and a more common sense approach to federal land management.
Furtado, the district manager for battle mountain district, is backed by his superiors, Evanson said. “The actions that he’s taken have the full support of the state office.”
While the removal of Furtado, who designed a statewide drought management plan that hasn’t been released for public comment, is one of the group’s goals, the bigger goal is to raise awareness of federal lands grazing issues.
Ranchers are justified in their concern, Gerber said, citing the removal of cattle from the region around Cliven Bundy, who, of 51 original permittees is the only rancher still grazing that allotment. “In the late 1980s and early 1990s the BLM cancelled all of the grazing rights of 50 ranchers in the Las Vegas district. Fifty ranchers, 50 families, gone. Now they are working to cancel the rights of ranchers in Battle Mountain district and others. In Nevada the BLM and Forest Service have an absolute monopoly on the grass. I for one decided I was not going to accept it.”
Bruce Clegg, Tooele County (Utah) Commissioner and rancher said that while his cattle graze only private land, he, his wife and his son and daughter who comprise his family ranching operation, will ride from the Utah/Nevada state line all the way to Washingtong, DC. Grandkids will join them through Utah and Colorado. As a county decision-maker he is well aware of the economic, cultural and environmental concerns of eliminating livestock grazing. “It would be better for our county to get the land transferred to the state,” he said
“As a county commissioner I need to keep grazing in mind for my constituents,” he said, adding that across the west, counties and states deal with similar issues when it comes to public lands - wild horses, obscure endangered species and overgrowth when grazing is ceased, causing forest and grass fires.
Because 87 percent of Nevada’s land is federally-managed, unelected bureaucrats like Furtado wield an unbalanced amount of power over major segments of the economy and culture of the nation, he said. “People like Furtado have the ability to destroy the grazing which is bad for everything especially wildlife,” Gerber said.
“I plan to ride down the street in Washington DC, and I plan to ride up 17 west, and deliver these petitions,” said Clegg, whose great-grandfather began raising cattle when he arrived in Tooele County Utah in 1849. The family has ranched ever since.
Clegg and his family will use 20 horses throughout the ride, saving their best 12 for the latter part of the trip.
A horse in good condition might take two legs of the journey each day, but many are asked to ride for only one stretch, sometimes only three or four miles in the mountains and other treacherous terrain. After the three- to five-mile jaunt, a horse is trailered and hauled to a gathering place. Some riders immediately mount another, fresh horse, while others take wheeled transportation to the night’s camping spot and prepare for the next day’s ride.
Gerber said along the way, ranchers and others concerned with federal government overreach are asking them to hand their petitions to DC lawmakers. “These petitions are on sage grouse, the water grab by the EPA, a bunch of those kinds of things. We are inviting all counties, city governments, all organizations to put those petitions in our hands and we’ll deliver them.”
This kind of demonstration has never been done, as far as the Gerber knows. Fifty riders have already taken part in some or all of the event. By the time they finish, 100 or more will probably have saddled up for their cause, Gerber expects. Rallies are planned in many cities along the way including Cheyenne, Wyo., and Denver. Seven people will go from beginning to end. “It is an exhilarating feeling. I’m 72 years old and it’s a great experience riding across California and Nevada and going clear to Washington D.C.,” Gerber said.
