We are each our own person, we each express ourselves differently and none of us live the same life as our neighbors, friends and family members. But, there is one thing we should all have in common. We are Americans. We are free, and we are hardworking.
We should support our military troops no matter how long they may be overseas fighting. Obama has promised that he'll bring our troops home. But, he can't guarantee that the war will stop, and that our troops won't be needed elsewhere.
But, then in middle school only on Monday mornings; and now, I am sad to report, only during assemblies in high school. And, as I have observed during those assemblies, there is very little respect shown from the student body to the flag. To our flag.
And, in the three years of high school I have had, we have only had one assembly to honor Veterans Day. I want to ask why. I want to ask what can I do as an individual to change these things. But, I don't know who to ask.
Why can't we all do something to support our country? Why don't we? My uncle is in the Air Force and I know others who have and are fighting for us, so that we may be free.
And, I want to thank all the armed forces, and also their families who go without them for so long, and sometimes for the rest of their lives. May God be with you all.
